QUESTIONS: 1. What is the difference between a sign and a symbol? 2. What are the three elements of the symbolic relationship (the "blue triangle of meaning")? 3. Is a word a sign or a symbol? Why? 4. Describe one natural sign that you've seen in the world. 5. Describe one symbol you've seen in the world. What (referent) did it stand for? How did you know what it meant?


1. The difference between a symbol and a sign. Its that the symbol needs the perception and thought of the interpreter.

2.The three elements are you, symbol, and referent.

3. A word is a symbol because the words can represent something or someone.

4. A natural sign I seen before is dead grass.

5. A symbol I seen before is a bike with a circle and a cross over it. It refers that you can't use a bike in that area. I know what it meant because its obvious, what the symbol is trying to say.
